Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholars in Health Policy ResearchThe Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholars in Health Policy Research program helps to develop a new generation of creative health policy thinkers and researchers within the disciplines of economics, political science and sociology. Self-employment within the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) system is addressed both as an employment outcome and as a set of services intended to assist VR participants to be successful in self-employment. It also provides examples to the new regulations and changes to VR Provider Handbook. ![]() Institutes / ConferencesNational Network of ADA Centers - Mark the DateThe National Network of ADA Centers will host Sharon Rennert, Senior Attorney with the EEOC, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, as part of the ADA Audio Conference Series to discuss the proposed regulations. There will be a 60-day comment period on the regulations. It is anticipated that the regulations will be published during the week of September 21, 2009, in the Federal Register. Into Adulthood: Transition to Work for Individuals with AutismMore than ever, individuals with autism spectrum disorders are participating in the mainstream of school, work, and the community. Careful transition planning from secondary education is critical for young people with autism spectrum disorders to be successful in the community however; there is limited information on this topic. This 5 week course will provide the participant with an in-depth understanding of the concepts related to positive transition planning for youth with autism. ![]() Research / PublicationsCampaign for Disability Employment Video Winners AnnouncedTo celebrate the launch of the What Can YOU Do? outreach effort, the Campaign for Disability Employment asked aspiring filmmakers to produce their own 60-second video in support of this effort. Watch the award-winning videos that illustrate positive images of people with disabilities at work, and help viewers re-think their assumptions about people with disabilities and employment. New EEOC documentThe Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) published a new document titled: Questions and Answers on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 on their website.
